| 1. What Is AQUASIL® ? AQUASIL® is a line of wastewater treatment products, developed and commercialized by AQUACHEM INC. The products are stand-alone wastewater treatment materials and manufactured of non-hazardous ingredients. The AQUASIL® products have high capacity for removing oil & grease, heavy metals, toxic organic substances, and other contaminants from waste streams. |
| |

| 2. How Does AQUASIL® Work ? The AQUASIL® treatment makes use of synergism and fast kinetics where the product reacts to break oil/water emulsion, takes up heavy metals, suspended solids and other contaminants; all simultaneously and often without pH adjustment. The reaction is fast and the treatment produces much less sludge than conventional hydroxide precipitation techniques. |
| |
3. What Are The Typical Contaminants AQUASIL® Removes ? Heavy Metals - Aluminum, cadmium, chromium (III), copper, iron, lead, mercury, nickel, zinc, etc. Oil & Grease – AQUASIL® products are excellent emulsion breakers, capable of taking up FOG at levels as high as 5% Organics –PCB, phenolics, detergent, surfactants, waxes, latex, paint, etc. Inorganics - carbonate, phosphate, fluoride, sulfate Suspended solids

| |
| | 5. What Are The Benefits Of AQUASIL® Treatment ? A single-product, simple, safe and easy to handle High affinity for heavy metals, oil, organics, and other contaminants pH independent - works well in the range of pH 2 – 12 Removes high levels of metals such as chromium, copper, lead, and zinc Applicable to either batch or continuous processes Reduces maintenance, labor, and energy costs Maintains compliance and generates non-hazardous waste Treated water is recyclable/reusable and zero-discharge is achievable Very economical

| | 6. What Makes AQUASIL® Better Than The Conventional And Other Technologies ? A single step treatment process, simple, and easy Safe (non-hazardous materials) Fast – systems and clarifiers are able to process increased volumes/ flows Generates less sludge (drier press cake) Generates non-hazardous waste - filter cake passes TCLP Green technology

| |
| |
| | 7. Can AQUASIL® Be Used With Existing Equipment ? In almost all cases, AQUASIL® products can be and are being used with existing equipment or systems. Since AQUASIL® technology is based on the simultaneous uptake of the various contaminants, treatment systems become very simple. |
| |
| |
| |
| |
| |
| | 8. How Well Does AQUASIL® Work With High Flow Rates in Continuous Treatment ? AQUASIL® products react very fast with contaminants and high flow rates can be handled easily. |
| |
| |
| |
| |
| | 9. Is Treated Water Recyclable ? Treated water is recyclable, especially for use as process water. Depending on the type of industry and set-up, treated water can be recycled/reused, and zero discharge is possible. |
| |
| |
| |
| |
| | 10. How Economical Is AQUASIL® ? Like any treatment process, the cost of wastewater treatment and waste disposal must be taken into consideration. For AQUASIL® Technology, cost reducing parameters are: A single-product process that eliminates the need for handling of dangerous liquid chemicals such as caustic, ferric, alum, acids, sulfide, dithiocarbamate, etc. Very simple treatment, less dependent on operator skills Reduces maintenance, labor, and energy costs Fast treatment process – reduced treatment time Maintains compliance, eliminates expense due to violation fines or surcharges Generates non-hazardous waste and minimizes disposal cost
